Em um encontro no final de semana, aqui em SP, para um evento do Sesc Santo Amaro, tive a felicidade de dividir a mesa do botequim sentimental com o historiador Paulo César de Araujo (“Eu não sou cachorro não”), Fausto Fawcett (o homem de Kátia Flávia e Favelost) e o joiadíssimo Falcão (“I’m not dog no”).

O papo era sobre a música cafona, romântica ou brega. Brega, defendeu Araújo, como substantivo, não adjetivo. Falou e disse tudo o baiano censurado pelo Rei –a sua biografia “Roberto Carlos em detalhes” foi retirada das livrarias.

No que Fawcett lembrou da genialidade de Evaldo Braga (“Sorria, meu bem”), pioneiro ao incorporar “black music” ao breguismo, cantor fluminense morto ainda em 1973, aos 27 anos. Daí viajamos a respeito de outros astros do gênero.

Aquela conversa me levou a uma lista dos “12 mais do brega”, um LP completo da nossa canção romântica. Os fundamentais, digamos assim. Fazer lista é cometer injustiças. Arrisco:
