Hoje é dia do livreiro. Vocês sabem como sou chegado a uma data, efemérides etc. A velha cultura que assimilei dos almanaques.

Sinceramente é fundamental celebrar o vendedor de livros, esse herói da resistência em um país que ainda lê tão pouco.

Por um tempo, fui um deles, compondo o grande time da Livro 7, no Recife, aquela que foi considerada a maior livraria do mundo. Verdade. Não é coisa da megalomania pernambucana.

Lá também estava o maior livreiro-proprietário que conheci: Tarcísio 7, o homem que só se veste de azul, agora cuidando do projeto Livro Rápido.

Era também desta casa que partia a troça carnavalesca “Nois sofre mas nos goza”, sempre citada pelo amigo José Simão na sua coluna.

Sueli, também conhecida como Criatura, da Síntese, pertinho da Livro 7, foi outra gigante do ofício.

Tem gente que é livreiro por circunstância, um bico; tem gente que é livreiro por vocação. Conheci muitos desse naipe, como Antônio, por exemplo, da Travessa, Ipanema, Rio. Um cérebro.

E o Flamínio? Grande botafoguense e livreiro passional da gloriosa Dantes, também carioca. O cara sabe tudo do ramo.

A Cidinha, da Livraria da Vila, unidade da Vila Madalena, é outra heroína. Essa manja. Livreira de mancheia.

Os sebistas, nossa, são outros que merecem mimos e palmas. O poeta Pedramérico, do Recife, foi o maior que já vi em atuação. Gênio.

Sem esquecer o Fred do Corsarium Alfarrabista, naquela galeria da frente do espaço Unibanco da Augusta.

Mas o primeiro livreiro que me impressionou na vida foi o seu Costa. Interrompia as aulas do grupo escolar Virgílio Távora e apresentava suas obras com um entusiasmo de personagem de Charles Dickens.

Sempre que deixava a sala, algum gaiato trocava o “C” do seu nome –havia escrito na lousa- por um ingênuo “B” de bosta.

E o Marquinhos, da Mercearia São Pedro, complexo de bar, locadora e livraria, aqui em SP? Livreiro-leitor e cozinheiro d´almas.

Ao poderoso exército do Círculo do Livro, que vendia de porta em porta, devo o meu amor por literatura. Eles me trouxeram todos os geniais Vonneguts. Coisas da vida.

E você, amigo(a), tem algum livreiro predileto, nesse tempo em que não os conhecemos mais pelos seus batismos?
