Era um jantar romântico, daqueles de sedução e conquista, ali no “La Tartine”, bistrô do bairro da Consolação, SP.

Tudo lindo. Tiozinho do acordeon mandando uma chanson. A moça fina, moderna e elegante como uma legítima paulistana, discorria sobre cinema.

O rapaz, uns 35 anos, gênero executivo, mais mudo do que o francês do filme “O Artista”.

Só notei que tinha voz quando veio a conta. O cara queria pagar tudo e ficou bravo porque a moça já havia ordenado a um dos garçons gêmeos que faturasse no seu cartão de crédito.

Phyna! E fez tudo na buena, sem exibicionismo.

No que lembrei, na mesa ao lado, de um velho conselho do guru P.J.O’Rourke, no livro “Etiqueta Moderna –finas maneiras para gente grossa”, tradução do jornalista Aran, editora. Conrad:

“Quando você vai ao encontro de um homem é perfeitamente aceitável que você deixe claro que trabalha mais duro, é mais bem sucedida e ganha muito mais do que ele.

No começo, não, dai-nos, santas, esse último prazer do orgulho macho. Imploramos.

Na prática, este cronista envelhecido em barris de bálsamo, já testemunhou de tudo nessa matéria.

Machão que se sente ofendido quando a dama propõe a dividir, por exemplo.

Feminista dando escândalo porque o cara quis fazer bonito e pagou a conta sem que ele sequer fosse consultada.

Assim como vi também amigas queixosas de homens mãos-de-vaca, muquiranas, que propuseram o racha.

Caro guru P.J.O’Rourke, a sua proposta é bem decente e reflete a nossa inutilidade como machos contemporâneos. Não há, porém, um código de etiqueta fechado para o assunto.

Na dúvida, podem pedir também o veredito do ladrão, essa criatura tão invasiva hoje em dia nos românticos arrastões dos restaurantes paulistanos.

Junto com nossos generosos leitores, porém, devemos chegar ao bom senso para tal prática. Quem, e em que circunstância, paga a conta?
